Are you seeking a postgraduate student position? Tohoku University Anesthesia offers some research programs run by dedicated mentors in anesthesiology, critical care medicine, and pain medicine. The programs are four-year courses of training for young anesthesiologists to acquire a Ph.D. degree. We believe that our programs can promote your career as an anesthesia professional.

He /she will be given some research themes such as the following:
1) Novel regional anesthesia technique for patients
2) Perioperative genetics and genomics
3) Translational research for critically ill patients with organ failure
4) Innovative therapy for patients with neuropathic pain
5) Or your research theme!

Anesthesiology is inextricably linked to physiology, pharmacology, and immunology. Also, our departmental policy is to conduct innovative research in anesthesiology based on excellent anesthesia care. Our goal is to provide valuable research.

You can work for doctoral research at our orbital laboratory, and you can also live in Sendai, Japan. Sendai is a very beautiful city and we promise that you would enjoy a fulfilling life in Sendai.

麻酔科の大学院では，麻酔医療やその関連分野(集中治療やペインクリニック)における，臨床での疑問を研究テーマとして選び，臨床研究や基礎研究を行っています．私達は研究だけを毎日行うのではなく，教授からレジデントまで全員が，手術室での臨床麻酔を中心とした附属病院での診療を継続して行っています．臨床の現場にいる医師であるからこそ，基礎医学者では着想し難い，日々の麻酔診療に役立つエキサイティングな研究が可能となります．そしてこの得難い研究経験は，麻酔科医として社会に貢献する上で，あなたの視野を大きく広げることでしょう．
現在，当科では多くのプロジェクトが進行中です．主に麻酔科学領域では，超音波ガイド下穿刺による新しい神経ブロックの開発や，周術期の悪心嘔吐やせん妄の分子遺伝学的機序の解明，集中治療領域ではCOVID-19や敗血症に関連するエクソソーム解析，ペインクリニック領域で神経障害性疼痛や遷延性術後痛の新しい動物モデルの開発と分子生物学的解析，などを精力的に研究しています．いずれも今後の臨床を改善する可能性のある魅力的な研究です．
当科は日本で2番目に開講した歴史と伝統を持つ教室です．豊富な経験で蓄積された最高レベルの臨床に基づく，世界最先端の研究の実践が東北大麻酔科のResearch Policyです．
