From 19th to 22 June 2008, I attended the International Congress of Infectious diseases together with 3 other members of our department (Tohoku University department of Virology) in which my abstract was accepted for a poster presentation. This congress had welcomed about 5000 persons.

During 4 days, from 9 am to 5:45 pm, several infectious diseases that threaten our world were presented and discussed consecutively in 7 different rooms:
Antibiotic; animal Model pathogenesis of infectious diseases and host defenses; bacterial infections; microbiology and virology; emerging diseases-zoonose; epidemiology-public health-Surveillance; HIV and other retroviruses; infection control and nocozomial infections; Obstetrical-Gynecology, surgical and sexually transmitted infections; Mycobacterial infection; Mycology, Pediatric and perinatal infections; Parasitology, tropical medicine/Travek medicine; Vaccines and vaccine development; Virology and Non HIV and non HIV viral opportunistic infections in HIV-infected patients. The lectures were of high quality from nice persons including recognized experts (WHO, CDC Atlanta ectc).

My Posters presentation on Friday, 20th June from 12:30 to 13:30 was about the Epidemiological risk factors of Measles Outbreaks in displaced populations after disasters. This gave me the opportunity to explain how measles epidemiology has varied overtime and the importance of surveillance approach to set-up priorities in measles vaccination. I also learned about new pharmaceutical products and vaccine under research during the commercial exhibition. Even if there are many to be done, I remained impressing by the very good people who are doing their best effort in the continual fight against infectious diseases worldwide.
Besides the congress, I got opportunity to admire the Twins Tours in Kuala-Lumpur. It was very nice to share and learn from others, to extend my networks and learn about several cultures.

I would like to thank the department of Virology for the quality of supervision and Tohoku University for the financial transportation support to attend this Congress from which I keep very nice memory.
