Laboratory Introduction
The Department of Pediatrics at Tohoku University School of Medicine was founded in 1918. The department is comprised of medical staff from Tohoku University School of Medicine as well as doctors in the pediatric department of the hospital; more than 30 doctors are working for clinical, educational and research activities of the department. The department has many clinical and research divisions focussing on: hematology, oncology and immunology, inborn errors of metabolism, endocrinology, neonatology, nephrology, neurology, and cardiology. Each group has highly motivated in its research and clinical work, and young staff members are given a stimulating environment in which to work.
