NIH – Tohoku University – JSPS Symposium: The 2nd Year Anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake; Present and Future (May 9 - May 10)
Tohoku University and National Institutes of Health (NIH), in collaboration with (JSPS), will convene the International Symposium for the 2nd Year Anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake. The symposium will be held on May 9 and 10 at Gonryo Hall in Sendai, and additional site visit to Ishinomaki City will be held on May 11. This symposium aims to further strengthen the research collaboration between NIH and Tohoku University. It is also hoped that this international collaborative initiative can support the ongoing recovery effort in the affected areas for future by promoting biomedical researches in the Tohoku area. At the symposium, Expression of Intent will be signed between Dr. Michael Gottesman, the Vice Director of NIH, and Dr. Susumu Satomi, President of Tohoku University. There will be a special session on Great East Japan Earthquake followed by five scientific sessions. In each session, prominent researchers from NIH and Tohoku University will present the results of their cutting edge researches. There will also be poster sessions in which more than 100 posters will be presented by young researchers and students of Tohoku University.
