On Friday, November 15, Dr. Ivan Rizal Sini, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at IPB University in Bogor, Indonesia, visited the Tohoku Medical Megabank Organization and the Graduate School of Medicine of Tohoku University. This visit follows the recent establishment of the Faculty of Medicine at IPB University to address the growing need for medical professionals in Indonesia. Since becoming Dean, Dr. Ivan has been focused on developing IPB University into a leading medical school capable of producing excellent doctors for Indonesia. During his visit, Dr. Ivan focused on improving faculty planning and development at IPB University.

He exchanged ideas with Tohoku Medical Megabank Organization about the creation and management of the biobank and strategies for advancing research and development.
In the afternoon, Dr. Ivan met with Indonesian students from the Graduate School of Medicine at Tohoku University to discuss changes in medical education in Indonesia and hear about their experiences studying in Japan. The International Exchange Office also shared information about student exchange programs.

In the following meeting with Professor Naoto Ishii, Dean of the School of Medicine, discussions centered around medical education and research initiatives. Lastly, Dr. Ivan Rizal Sini was guided through the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology by Professor Masatoshi Saito, where he received an overview of ongoing research and educational efforts in the field.

Dr. Ivan’s visit served as a pivotal opportunity to deepen the partnership between IPB University and Tohoku University. This engagement is expected to foster further collaboration and development in the future.
