IMPORTANT NOTICE: Reorganization of the Graduate School of Medicine (April 2027)【Approval of the Establishment Plan】

We hereby announce that the previously disclosed plan concerning the organizational reorganization of the Graduate School of Medicine, scheduled to take effect from April 2027, has received official approval following deliberation by the Council for University Chartering and School Juridical Person of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT).

Accordingly, the entrance examinations scheduled to be administered in January 2027 shall be conducted on the basis of the new majors and fields of study designated under the reorganized structure. Successful applicants shall subsequently be admitted and enrolled into the aforementioned new majors and fields of study.



Please note the following critical changes:
・Due to this reorganization, there will be changes to the transition of courses and admission capacity, such as the transition to the new Major of Comprehensive Medicine.

For Prospective Doctoral Students
Tohoku University launched the Tohoku University Advanced Graduate School LEAP Program in April 2026 to foster outstanding researchers who will lead the next generation of innovation and be active on the global stage, as well as to supply highly skilled professionals to diverse sectors. In principle, this program provides support to all doctoral students*.
For an overview of the program and application eligibility, please refer to the website below.

*Doctoral students: Students enrolled in a three-year doctoral program or in the medical,
dental, or pharmaceutical doctoral program.
