Accommodation
Most international students in our school apply for the university dormitory at the beginning and live there for six months to one year, and they become accustomed to life in Sendai.
The application period for the dormitory is from December to January for April move-in, and from June to July for October move-in. Prospective students can apply for the dormitory even before they have passed the entrance examination.
With a few exceptions, the maximum period of stay in the dormitories is ‘one year’. Residents should find another accommodation well in advance. on their own and move out of the dorm before its residence period ends. New international students of that year will move into the room right after it is vacated.
Students may be asked to provide a “joint guarantor” when they sign the apartment contract. International students can apply for the “Tohoku University Housing Joint Guarantee System,” under which the university will serve as your guarantor if certain conditions are met.
