OUTLINE

The Department of Clinical Epidemiology aims to generate evidence that bridges population-based research and clinical practice. Our laboratory promotes a unique multigenerational cohort platform, the TMM Birth and Three-Generation Cohort Study, to elucidate how genetic, environmental, behavioral, and social factors across generations influence health and disease throughout the life course.
Our major research areas include perinatal epidemiology, life-course epidemiology, and perinatal pharmacoepidemiology. We investigate the safety and effectiveness of medication use during pregnancy and lactation, maternal and child health outcomes, developmental origins of health and disease (DOHaD), and intergenerational transmission of disease risk. By integrating epidemiological methods with genomics, multi-omics, and real-world clinical data, we seek to identify novel determinants of health and disease from fetal life to adulthood.
A central mission of our laboratory is the translation of epidemiological findings into clinical and public health practice. We aim not only to advance scientific understanding, but also to contribute to precision medicine, evidence-based perinatal care, and preventive strategies that improve the health of future generations.
