OUTLINE
Successful treatment of advanced cancers is challenging, and limited therapeutic options are currently available, particularly for solid tumors. Our research focuses on the heterogeneity of cancer tissues, identification of cancer cells with particularly high malignant potential (cancer stem cells), and gaining deeper understanding of the pathogenesis of these tumors, all aimed at establishing novel cancer therapies. Our study primarily involves rare cancers such as head and neck cancer and cholangiocarcinoma, and we perform research while establishing and utilizing xenograft model mice.
Our department is an affiliated department established at the Miyagi Cancer Center Research Institute (Natori City). For our research, we also use clinical specimens obtained from the adjacent hospital.
