OUTLINE
This division engages in research activities that support genome cohort studies conducted by the Tohoku Medical Megabank Organization (ToMMo). We are involved in the education and training of personnel at ToMMo through an originally developed educational program (2016 BMC Med Edu). In addition, we developed a SNP array optimized for the Japanese population and efficiently generated large-scale genotyping data (2021 J Biochem). We are further aiming to implement these resources for practical application in disease risk prediction.
In our laboratory, we are also investigating the molecular mechanisms underlying allergic inflammatory diseases, with a particular focus on matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) and a member of the water-soluble B vitamin group, biotin (2021 J Nutr Sci Vitaminol; 2024 Nutrients).
