OUTLINE
The Department of Medical Informatics is dedicated to advancing practical research in medical informatics to enhance the quality and value of healthcare. One of our targets is effective electronic health records. In addition, we address a wide spectrum of issues, including data management for supporting clinical research, promoting the use of Personal Health Records (PHR), contributing to international standards such as FHIR, and preparing for disaster response. In cardiology, particularly, we are actively involved in developing and managing the Japanese Circulation Society's Standard Output Format (SEAMAT) to improve the collection and utilization of cardiology data.
As information technology continues to evolve, the volume of digital data is rapidly increasing. Big data holds the potential to generate new insights in medicine and enhance a variety of healthcare functions. We are committed to addressing real-world challenges methodically, aiming to collect and utilize large-scale, highly reliable data. Additionally, we focus on training physicians with comprehensive knowledge of hospital information systems, clinical medicine, and foundational medical sciences, equipping them to navigate the increasingly digital healthcare landscape.
