OUTLINE
In promoting medical science research, it is essential to communicate with patients and citizens who participate in research, as well as with various stakeholders. Especially in the field of genome medicine, which has made remarkable progress in recent years, the distance between the results of basic research and their application to clinical practice or to the lives of individuals is short, and the impact on society is direct. Our lab conduct practical research on how patients and citizens should be involved in research and how communication based on research results should be conducted, including ethical aspects. Specifically, we envision research on literacy, social acceptance, and methods and practices of patient and public involvements in genome medicine.
医科学研究の推進には、研究に参加してくれる患者・市民とのコミュニケーションをはじめ多様なステークホルダーとの対話が不可欠です。特に近年進展の著しいゲノム医科学においては、基礎研究で挙げられた成果が臨床に応用されたり、個人の生活に適用されたりするまでの距離が短く、社会に対する影響が直接的に現れます。研究に対して患者・市民の参画がどうあるべきか、研究成果をもとにしたコミュニケーションはどうあるべきか、倫理面を含め実践的な研究を行います。具体的には、各種メディアにおけるゲノム医科学の扱われ方、リテラシー、社会受容に関すること、患者・市民参画の方法と実践についての研究などを想定しています。
