OUTLINE

This division promotes capacity building in genomic research through integrated activities in human resource development, infrastructure building, and translational application. In support of the genome cohort studies conducted by the Tohoku Medical Megabank Organization (ToMMo), we provide education and training for relevant personnel through an original educational program established within ToMMo (2016 BMC Med Edu). In addition, we have built core genomic resources, including a SNP array optimized for the Japanese population and large-scale genotyping datasets (2021 J Biochem). Building on these activities, we aim to promote the practical application of genomic resources in disease risk prediction.
In parallel, our laboratory conducts basic research on the molecular mechanisms underlying inflammatory diseases, with a particular focus on matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) and biotin, a member of the water-soluble B vitamin (2021 J Nutr Sci Vitaminol; 2024 Nutrients).

当分野はゲノム医療の推進に必要な基盤形成に資する研究活動を行っています。東北メディカル・メガバンク機構が実施するゲノムコホート研究に携わる様々な職種に対応するため、独自に開発した教育プログラムを活用して人材育成に取り組むとともに、そのプログラムの外部への普及・展開についても検討しています。また、日本人集団のゲノム解析に最適化したSNPアレイ開発と大規模データの収集を進め、ゲノム情報にもとづく疾患リスク予測の社会実装を目指しています。
さらに、マトリックスメタロプロテアーゼ(MMPs)や水溶性ビタミンB群に属するビオチンに着目して、炎症性疾患の病態メカニズムの解明にも取り組んでいます。
