OUTLINE
We integrate a wide range of research approaches such as neuroimaging, cognitive and physiological function evaluation, neuropsychopharmacology, bio-sensing, genome and metabolome analyses, and artificial intelligence technology to elucidate the pathophysiology of psychiatric disorders and the mechanism of psychiatric treatment. We are also conducting model animal research to elucidate the molecular genetic mechanism of clinically observed phenomena. Through these studies, we aim to develop personalized psychiatric technology that enables the selection of preventive and therapeutic methods that fit each individual regarding effectiveness and safety. In addition, we conduct clinical research on patients with the first episode psychosis, ARMS (At-Risk Mental State), which has a high risk of developing mental illness, problems in childhood adolescent psychiatry, perinatal psychiatry, and liaison psychiatry. We also research to improve treatment methods centered on cognitive behavioral therapy. Finally, we conduct epidemiological studies on the mental health of residents in areas affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake.
