OUTLINE

Until now, epidemiology and public health have contributed to extending healthy life expectancy by clarifying the causes of diseases and presenting countermeasures. In particular, our division has not only elucidated the causes of many diseases, but also proposed measures for extending healthy life expectancy and for assessing the effectiveness of cancer screening, and realized their social implementation.
We believe that our mission is to continue to provide evidence in line with social trends and how to spread the knowledge gained through epidemiology to society. We would like to contribute to better health promotion by utilizing the cohort surveys cultivated by the field of public health and the information on the Tohoku Medical Megabank Project in which I participated.
