 “Health and social impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on foreign residents in Japan”

<Outline>
Increasing global evidence suggests that immigrants and ethnic minorities are disproportionately affected in terms of their health and lives, making them one of the most vulnerable groups during the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, the importance of culturally tailored health and social interventions for these minority groups has been emphasized. However, despite the growing foreign population, little is known about the health and living conditions of foreign residents in Japan during the pandemic due to a lack of data. Based on our original survey, this presentation will introduce the health behaviors (e.g., COVID-19 vaccination intentions, prevention behaviors, information-seeking behaviors) and livelihoods (e.g., changes in employment status, income, stay/return intentions, difficulties) of foreign residents in Japan during the COVID-19 crisis by comparing them to Japanese residents.
